MukukuMarata is a gloriously homemade word for an exquisitely homemade product. Mukuku is a 'shack' in Zulu; Marata means 'scrap metal' in Zimbabwean. Each bowl and platter is woven together with scraps found in the townships and take about one day to complete. They are burnished twice to encourage a unique array of colours.

Legend has it that certain central African tribes, after an evening of celebration and festivity, would dance the MukukuMarata until the next dawn.

Please feel free to come to my workshop and see my stock of finished bowls and platters. If you cannot find exactly what you are looking for, you are welcome to place your custom order to your own specifications (size and colour).
